Hair dyes have been extensively tested and their safety has been repeatedly confirmed by independent scientists and regulatory bodies. Hair dyes themselves are regulated by strict EU cosmetics regulations and are safe to use if the instructions are followed carefully.
Reactions to hair dyes can occur in a very small number of people, just as some people may react to various foods and natural substances.
Allergic reactions to hair dyes are extremely rare. In people who may react to hair dye, potential reactions can be detected by performing an allergy alert test, as recommended, 48 hours before the planned use of the product. An allergy alert test must be performed before each use of the dye, even if you have previously used the same hair dye or a different brand of dye.
Allergy test:
Remove earrings behind the ear and, using a cotton swab, apply a small amount of unmixed dye product, sufficient to cover an area of 1-2 cm² (e.g. the size of a small coin).
Reapplication:
Reapply two or three times, allowing it to dry between each application. Close the dye container tightly and save it for use 48 hours later.
48 hours:
Leave for 48 hours without washing, covering or touching.
Reactions:
If you notice any abnormal reactions during this time, such as itching, redness or swelling in or around the test area, do not apply the product.
